Emergency Booking

Staying positive doesn’t mean things will turn out okay. Rather it is knowing you will be okay no matter how things turn out.

This couple did not intend to book me. I always tell couples and venue owners I meet, “There are only three people who HAVE to be at a wedding. The couple to be married and the wedding officiant. So, keep my card.”

Lucky for this couple the venue owner had spoken with me the week before at networking lunch, because their family member who was their officiant had a medical emergency the day before the wedding. The owner gave me a call and I happen to live quite close to the Liberty Plantation in Cape Fair, MO.

I was able to get the husband the questionnaire and get a wonderfully meaningful wedding put together for them. I was so impressed looking back how much this groom took charge and made the special day for his bride as stress free as possible. This wedding had many hiccups that the bride never knew about till after.

Sometimes love is taking charge and making it work for the one you care about most!

“…You’re entirely bonkers. But I’ll tell you a secret. All the best people are.”

Tim Burton Themed Wedding

This couple had a Tim Burton theme centering around Alice in Wonderland and Corpse Bride. They used their beloved corgi as their flower girl and elected to have their wedding party sit in the front row versus standing beside them the whole ceremony.

In keeping with their theme I painted a box to look like a Cheshire cat and filled it with paper blue butterflies. When the couple made the conscious decision to move forward as one they opened the box and released their past, letting the butterflies soar on the breeze.

Dearly Beloved, We Are Gathered Here Today

When I look at you I can feel it. I look at you and I’m home.

-Dory in Finding Nemo

This couple chose to incorporate Star Wars into their wedding as a light touch. They used many nontraditional sayings, music, and ‘seating’ arrangement. They asked we all stand in a circle around them to represent the unity of community coming together supporting their marriage. The atmosphere was kept light yet endearing. These two chose gaiety over tradition and everyone had a fun time.

I helped make a musical playlist of pop songs covered in cello for an elevated feel. However, the couple kissed and walked out married to ‘The Imperial March’.
